About Greta D'Amico

Greta Hauck D’Amico is a visual artist based in Auburn, California, working in acrylic, oil, cold wax, and mixed media. Her artistic journey began in 2017 with sketching and colored pencils, later expanding into acrylics. In 2021, she enrolled in the Evolve Program to deepen her study of classical oil painting and traditional realism.

Seeking a counterbalance to realism’s precision, Greta began exploring abstraction in 2023 through oil and cold wax, studying with Lisa Mann in Naxos, Greece. This shift opened a new chapter in her creative process—one defined by texture, spontaneity, and intuitive mark-making. Her work now bridges classical technique with layered, expressive surfaces that invite contemplation and emotional connection. Most recently, she completed the Creative Visionary Process program with Nicholas Wilton, further enriching her abstract practice.

Greta’s artwork has been exhibited at Blue Line Arts in Roseville, the Crocker Art Museum in Sacramento, and the Art League of Lincoln. She is slated to participate in the Placer Artists Tour in 2025. In addition to gallery exhibitions, her work is included in private collections and has been installed in everyday spaces such as offices, retail spaces and an Airbnb—places where viewers can connect with art in personal, immersive ways. Her website can be found at gretadamicoart.com.

Statement

My artistic journey is a dialogue between structure and spontaneity, control and surrender. I studied classical oil painting techniques to build a strong foundation in understanding light, form, and composition, which gave me the confidence to push beyond representation and explore a more intuitive, expressive approach.

I work in acrylic, oil, and mixed media, drawn to the tactile quality of layered surfaces. In my abstract work, I build and obscure, scrape back and reapply, searching for the balance between deliberate composition and intuitive play. My goal is to create pieces that invite the viewer into a space of quiet resonance—where texture, color, and movement spark emotion and contemplation.

I am continually exploring the interplay of materials and meaning, pushing myself to remain open to the "flow state" where creativity thrives. Each piece is a conversation, an exploration of presence, and an offering of connection.
