FEBRUARY
It is unseasonably warm for late February. The ground remains frozen from winter’s normally frigid cold. Several good winter snowfalls hardened the earth since December, but for the last two weeks it’s done nothing but rain. In spite of the warming trend the damp air still feels cold.
The sky is gray with low hanging clouds, vivid blue appears in between the weather fronts moving through. The grass is made more yellow against the muted trees and underbrush that line the banks of the creek.
In what is normally a mowed path, a large puddle of mirror-still water accumulated. It reflected the sky and clouds above. I was awestruck by the contrast of color where the sky meets the yellow grass. It is one of my favorite color harmonies.
