“THE CROWS” BURNING MAN 2002 SIGNED ORIGINAL VINTAGE COLOR PHOTOGRAPH BY THE AMERICAN PHOTOGRAPHER SERGIO ORTIZ
This famous vintage color photograph of “The Crows” from Burning Man 2002 is by the internationally known photographer SERGIO ORTIZ.
The theme in 2002 was “The Floating World” and the playa was filled with amazing mutant vehicles: the White Whale, the Shark, the Rubber Ducky, the Contessa and Drako, the Metal Dragon. The Children of Chaos debuted on the Playa with “The Crows”. Paul Harrod designed the operable beaks and each person carved their own out of blue insulation foam. They painted them with layers of gesso and black enamel and attached them to second hand, styrofoam bike helmets. Joanna Priestley designed the costumes, made from long strips of black cotton sewn onto a sleeveless black vest with a tuft of black tulle on the beak helmets.
Signed by the photographer in pencil on the foam core board below the photograph lower right: Sergio Ortiz. The photograph is printed on matte photo paper and is float mounted with museum quality mounting corners to the foam core board backing. The image size measures 12 x 18 inches, the photo paper measures 12 3/8 x 18 1/2 inches. The foam core board measures 15 x 22 inches. The photograph comes unframed.
