From an early age, creativity has been at the heart of Rel Rogers’s life. While he was drawn to both music and visual arts, it was the realm of fractals, digital art, and AI tools that ultimately captured his passion. His artistic journey began with piano performances in recitals and talent shows, followed by a period playing the Hammond B3 in rock bands. However, as time went on, his love for performing diminished, and he turned his focus to new experiences, using his work in the service industry to fund travels across Europe, where Italy and Greece left a lasting impression.
About thirty years ago, Rel underwent a spiritual transformation, leading him to immerse himself in A Course in Miracles. This marked a turning point, both spiritually and professionally, as he began working with children with special needs, primarily those with autism and Down syndrome. This work profoundly shaped his perspective and remains a deeply fulfilling aspect of his life.
Today, meditation plays a pivotal role in Rel’s creative process. He approaches each piece with an open mind, allowing colors, shapes, and textures to emerge organically. His meditative approach seamlessly integrates fractals, digital tools, and AI technology, resulting in distinctive artworks that celebrate spontaneity and the thrill of creative discovery.
Rel's recent dive into AI art has further expanded his artistic range, offering new ways to push the boundaries of his visual storytelling. This fusion of AI with his personal style has produced work that is not only visually captivating but emotionally resonant as well.
His artwork is featured in several distinguished venues across California, including The Grand Gallery at Jack London Square in Oakland, Mubdies Collective in Isleton, The Showcase in Fairfield and Art & Gifts by Clutterbug in Rio Vista. With a commitment to meditation, artistic exploration, and innovative techniques, Rel continues to create powerful and serene works that resonate with all who encounter them.
Statement
Creativity is deeply personal, fueled by passion, effort, and skill. While I respect traditional artistry and the years of dedication it requires, I see AI as a tool... much like a camera, a digital brush, or a printing press... rather than a replacement for creativity.
For me, AI is not about pressing a button and calling it ‘art.’ It’s a medium for experimentation, exploration, and pushing the boundaries of what’s possible. My vision, choices, and refinements shape the final piece, just as artists have always adapted to new tools and techniques. AI doesn’t create on its own; it requires human intention, guidance, and heart.
Art isn’t defined by how difficult it is to create... it’s about expression, emotion, and connection. AI is simply another way to explore and bring creativity to life." - Rel Rogers
