There have been so many mishaps and catastrophes that have occurred in
productions across North America and the United Kingdom all blamed on this kind
of Jinx. To ward off the calamity of a Stage Jinx, superstitious stagehands and
performers have a ritual of providing a small setting in a secluded area just off
stage right that includes a signed playbill, a can of beans, a slice of toast, and a
small glass of single malt Scotch.
