Dominick was born and raised in Bordeaux, France. He discovered his passion for the arts at a young age; always drawing and aspiring to be a car designer or an architect.
Growing up in one of the most beautiful cities in France, he was surrounded by history and visual arts. He soon acquired a love for music and paintings.
Dominick's path led him to become a physician instead of a car designer or architect... but his passion for the arts and painting never left him.
Moving to St. Martin with his family in the late 80s, the Caribbean's beauty and colorful culture inspired him to return to his easel and start painting again.
His journey did not stop there- he relocated to the US in the early 2000s and has lived in Florida since then.
Dominick is a self-taught artist whose work is inspired by periods like Abstract Expressionism, Cubism, and Street Art. His study of Zen Buddhism has also served as inspiration.
Dominick lives in SW Florida and is a resident artist at The Union Artist Studios on the Fort Myers Alliance for The Arts campus.
Statement
I love working with different styles, techniques, and mediums: Acrylic, oil, oils & cold wax, oil sticks, charcoal, graphite, and collage.
My art is in constant evolution and movement.
I consider myself an intuitive painter, letting my inspiration and emotions guide me through the process.
When I start working on a canvas, most of the time I do not have a fixed idea of the final work... I like the “not knowing” as it boosts my creativity.
“Feeling Free” is precisely how I feel when I am painting.
