Stopping the Spread of Jim Crow by Dellis Frank Image: In my artistic journey, I am committed to combating the pervasive spread of bigotry and hatred within our society. Through a diverse range of materials and techniques, I aim to illuminate the communities affected by this systemic prejudice and to spark crucial conversations about how to combat it.
With each element carefully chosen and assembled, I construct a visual narrative that speaks to the resilience and resistance against the oppressive systems of Jim Crow, and the New Jim Crow. Incorporating found objects, and other elements, I create a multidimensional representation of the interconnectedness of communities impacted by discrimination.
My work serves as a catalyst for reflection and dialogue, inviting viewers to confront uncomfortable truths about our collective history and present reality. By acknowledging the enduring legacy of discrimination, we can begin to dismantle the structures that perpetuate systemic inequality.
Through education, empathy, and action, I believe we can forge a path towards a more just and inclusive society. My mixed media pieces serve as a rallying cry, urging us to stand in solidarity against bigotry and to actively work towards creating a world where all are truly seen, heard, and valued.
