Mechelle (aka, Miki) is an autodidact abstract painter, photographer, mixed medium, new media artist and 'wanna be poet' who currently leans
toward atmospheric, meditative, soft minimalism and color field expressionism.
She works to deconstruct the complexities of the material world and burrow into the essential emotion driven by atmosphere, stillness, and space.
Mechelle has worked freelance in film production, photojournalism, and as a gallery assistant in D.C. She has had her works and writing published in
numerous indy periodicals, college texts, and local papers around metro D.C.
She has sold her work to private collectors internationally and throughout the U.S.
Her two main sources of inspiration for the past 9 years have been the horizon (mostly coastal these days) and illusions of stillness in nature. Attempting
to convey the poetry of vastness in our shared natural surroundings and spiritual interconnectedness with all things.
Mechelle loves to head out to the water just before sunrise to greet the dawn, take photos, paddleboard, or just walk the shoreline with her rescue pups Rogue & Rosie before starting the work day. She loves Dunedin, North Beach Clearwater, Caladesi & Honeymoon Islands, and is very happy to call them 'home'.
