A fine rainy spring in Montana brings green growth and muddy dirt roads. Because the soils are made up mostly of clay, especially in the eastern half of Montana, we refer to the muddy mess as gumbo. It is a force to be reckoned and if you try to drive through it, you will find yourself stuck up to the wheel wells.
