I graduated from the Cleveland Institute of Art in the mid 80s with a BFA in drawing and printmaking, and spent the next few years living a bohemian artist life. Eventually I began working as an art director in the advertising industry.
While pursuing my career and raising a family, I kept up a consistent studio practice, always making something working in a variety of styles and mediums.
As I approach retirement and have more time to focus my creativity on making art, I have returned to early inspirations—the visual effects of optical geometry and abstraction.
Recently, I began exploring simple overlapping shapes. The combination of squares and circles generates new unexpected shapes that become suggestive of other ideas, meanings and interpretations.
