supporting the visual arts in Cleveland since 1915

carta owns a large collection of artwork by Cleveland area artists, both for adults and children, and purchases about $25,000 of new art annually. Once a year carta's 250 members meet to select a piece of art. At the end of the year, members may purchase their piece (although some selected works are not for sale) or return for something new. carta's collection consists of works by a wide range of artists and includes paintings, drawings, prints, photographs, textiles, ceramics, small sculpture, and glass. carta also has a collection of works just for children up to age 15, who may join when sponsored by an adult member. 

We further our mission by donating annual scholarships to Cleveland Institute of Art students and provide educational activities to enhance awareness of area artists. In 2024, carta donated $50,000 in scholarship funds.
