The work of Peggy Kwong Gordon is highly communicative, constructed from ancient Chinese pictograms that capture the intrinsic elegance of Chinese script. Her artworks possess the richness of oil paintings, featuring dense textures and deep hues, intermittently brightened by the vividly rendered pictograms. Instead of conventional paper, Kwong Gordon employs materials such as manila fiber, vellum, pressed wool, and Kozo paper to reflect the multilayered complexity of the Chinese American experience. In addition to her artistic practice, she has taught studio art at Kent State University and has exhibited her work widely.
