Artist: Jeff Benedetto
Jeff Benedetto, a highly skilled Preparator based in Cleveland, Ohio, has made significant contributions to the art community through his extensive experience and expertise. Currently employed at MOCA Cleveland since 2017, he has honed his craft in preparing and installing artworks for exhibitions, showcasing his meticulous attention to detail and deep understanding of art handling. Jeff's diverse career includes notable positions at the Oklahoma State University Museum of Art, where he worked in a preparatory role for four months in 2015, and at MOCA in Los Angeles, where he further developed his skills in art presentation during his tenure in 2014.
In addition to his museum experience, Jeff has served as an Art Handler II at the American Visionary Art Museum in Baltimore in 2012, demonstrating his ability to manage the logistics of art installations effectively. Since 1980, he has been self-employed as an artist and studio furniture maker, allowing him to explore various artistic expressions while also developing his expertise as a museum exhibitions specialist and designer. This self-employed journey has spanned over 44 years, during which he has cultivated a problem-solving mindset essential for navigating the complexities of art preparation and installation.
Academically, Jeff earned his Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA) in Painting from the Cleveland Institute of Art, attending from 1972 to 1979. His education provided a strong foundation in both traditional and contemporary practices, which he has since expanded with a wide-ranging skill set that includes 2D and 3D artmaking, digital photography, fine woodworking, and metalworking. Moreover, he also pursued studies at Croydon College of Art from 1975 to 1976, further enhancing his artistic technique and creative vision. Overall, Jeff Benedetto's multifaceted career and commitment to the arts position him as a valuable asset to the Cleveland art scene and beyond.
