Enhance your home and workspace with original art that you love, a transaction that supports real, working artists.
MessageAfter graduating UW-Milwaukee with a Bachelor of Fine Art, I gave up art. I felt intimidated by the art world, and wasn't confident enough to try. For decades, I was art-less, yet failing to find any real sense of belonging in the corporate world. Miserable is a good word to describe those days. When my career ended, I never wanted see the inside of an office or conference room again. I started to draw as a hobby, and it didn't talk long for me to pick up right where I left off so many years before.
On weekends, my husband and I worked on modernizing the attic above our garage into a studio. That's where I spend most days now, just lounging, writing, drawing, painting, listening to music, and connecting with customers. I've learned that the belonging I sought is found only when I to belong to myself first, and I'm doing that more and more these days. In fact, thought my art I'm learning to become apologetically and authentically myself.
The result of art is so much more than merely decor, background music, or words on a page. To create and own a work of art that stirs your soul is incomparable to other human experiences. When you fall in love with a piece, it's usually because you have recognized yourself in that work, perhaps validating something you long felt but couldn't quite articulate. Art makes us feel more connected if we let it: whether it's to an idea, another human being, nature, love, whatever you call god, or the powerful spirit of an animal.

Statement
Modern life with its social, political, and cultural debates leaves us all raw, triggered, and anxious. We are bombarded by rhetoric that is carefully chosen to obscure truth and advance agendas. I see art as a universal language that can transcend that which twists us into parrots of this rhetoric. Living with art you love and seeing through an artist’s eyes can help us see these superficial debates for what they are and get us in touch with what really matters.
