It’s hard to mistake Ricardo Enrique Gutierrez Larralde’s work, with his use of bright colours and striking imagery it certainly fits the term ‘Distinctive’.

Born in Santa Clara, Cuba in 1987, Ricardo was very young when he entered the Art School, where he was awarded the title of Art Instructor, specializing in Plastic (Visual) Arts. He continued his education at the Higher Institute of Art in Havana, specializing in Visual Arts, with a mention in Conservation and Restoration of Movable Property. Here, he nurtured his talent as an artist and creator, and began to refine his artistic style.

Ricardo dedicated himself to teaching from 2009 to 2016, part of the new generation of artists supporting the young talent of Cuba. He then worked as an artistic restorer from 2017 – 2023. While a member of the ‘Duomo Restoration Group’, Ricardo was involved in many major projects, most notable of them as the restorer of a group of mural paintings located at the “Marta Abreu” Central University of Las Villas, a transcendental work for which his hometown is renowned.

However, painting will always be his greatest passion. An independent artist from 2006, Ricardo exhibited at the Museum of Decorative Arts and at the Provincial Art Gallery, both in Santa Clara, establishing him as a recognized painter. His work has evolved over time, where the figurative and abstract, classic urban landscapes, and women’s figures are interwoven; instilling the work with his own personality and sending the viewer’s imagination to flight.
