Artist: Heidi Berger
Heidi Berger is a multifaceted visual artist whose work spans acrylics, encaustics, and mosaics crafted from found materials. A largely self-taught artist, she acknowledges a deep gratitude to the many influences that have shaped her creative journey.
Her path to art was unconventional yet rich in experience. After earning a PhD in German Literature, she owned a gallery for Canadian Native Art in Germany in the 1970s, contributed to the Calgary Olympics in the 1980s, and ultimately returned to creating art full-time. Since then, she has showcased her work in over 50 solo and group exhibitions, most recently in A New Beginning, where her paintings and mosaics were exhibited alongside the mahogany sculptures of Kenneth (Black) Blackman and Ilon Skeete. Her award-winning pieces are part of private collections worldwide.
Having lived and worked in Canada, France, Germany, and Mexico, Heidi now divides her time between Canada and Barbados, a place her family has called home for over 40 years. When she isn’t painting, she shares her passion by teaching, inspiring others to explore the boundless possibilities of artistic expression.
