E. W. Moore, 81, Ex-Local Artist, Taken By Death

E. W. "Cap" Moore, 81, ex-Portland artist and photographer, died Friday at the Veterans' hospital in Napa, Cal. Five of Mr. Moore's portraits of Oregon governors were destroyed when the state capitol burned. He served as a lieutenant in Company F. 2d Oregon volunteers, in the Philippines during the Spanish-American war.
He was born June 5, 1857, in Gardiner, Me., and came to Oregon in 1863. He held the rifle championships of Maine and Oregon.

Surviving are a son, Herman McNamer Moore, Portland; three daughters, Mrs. Nancy Moore Knox, 2535 Southeast Thirty-third avenue, Portland; Miss Beebe Moore, St. Vincents hospital, Portland, and Mrs. Harriet Silvey; Tracy, Cal., and a brother, Albert Moore, Augusta, Me.

Funeral services will be held in Portland, but arrangements have not been completed.
