Jenny Charles makes contemporary functional and decorative pieces using a variety of techniques. Hand rolled slabs of clay being the preferred method because of recent injuries acquired after a fall. She has also shifted away from white firing clay to the warmth of a high fired red terracotta.

The work is influenced by mans impact on the landscape with references to weathered buildings, rusty objects, ploughed fields and harbours. Surface texture is an import element in all her work.

Recent work has been based on the theme of the kiss. Brancusi and Klimt being a jumping off point. All the marks made on the work are intending to emulate the feelings, emotions and connections made.
