Having had a career based in Science and Pharmaceuticals for the best part of 30 years, I found myself looking for a complete change when I retired 10 years ago. Fused Glass Jewellery and Glassware is my main body of work. I love the fact that there is always the potential for a wonderful surprise when I open the kiln, even happy accidents have a place! As with any fully hand made item, getting totally matching items is almost an impossibility, so things like earrings will be as similar as I can make them!
I use many different combinations of coloured and Dichroic glass. I love the seemingly endless possibilities there are to be found. Dichroic Glass is a specialist glass which displays two different colours by undergoing a colour change in certain lighting conditions, refracting and reflecting the light! As with any fully hand made item, getting totally matching items is almost an impossibility, so things like earrings will be as similar as I can make them!
