Plein Air Afternoon Sun - Late Summer
As soon as I saw this scene I was obsessed. The patterns and the color harmonies gave off a siren's call. It happens. Certain locations, patterns or color harmonies trigger me. It's both fun and uncomfortable. I ended up painting in this location in a number of light keys but this is the one that started it.
I enjoyed the feeling that the light and shade was falling down the steep hill like a waterfall. The two newly planted saplings began to represent my two children as I worked. And subsequent paintings of this location have held that concept more to the front. But this one is about enjoying the flow of light on a dynamic angle.
