Vintage Japanese kokeshi doll, executed in the sashikomi technique, wherein the head and torso are individually carved and joined by means of a wooden peg. Handcrafted from solid wood, the figure is embellished with traditional polychrome motifs in red, green, and black. A maker’s mark is inscribed on the base, which also features a shallow, circular recess—possibly of functional significance.
