Light wooden foldable chair with beige metal front and back arm supports on each side, and a matching light wood arm on each side. Chair 1 in a set of 13 chairs donated by John Tim Cole. Each of the 13 chairs are permanently fixed into the floor at the PACTS/UKHS Museum and were originally used by Princess Anne County Training School students in their school building in the 1950s.
This chair is at the end of the first row of chairs, on the right when looking from the stage in the museum, and has a distinct full metal panel for its right arm support and right legs. On the inside of the beige metal panel, there is a deteriorated sticker that once beared the name of the manufacturing company “Irwin”. This is known because 3 other end-row chairs in the set have the same sticker at the same location with better readability, and blueprints of the 1950 school auditorium seating plan bear the same company name and logo as the stickers, “Seating Company / IRWIN / Grand Rapids, Mich.”
On the exterior of the metal panel, there is a large decorative symbol resembling a backwards “P” or the number 9.
