After visiting the monarch butterfly sanctuary in the jungles of Mexico, I have wanted to relay the message to help improve their survival. Here I show a mythical Madame with a magic bowl to keep them from extinction. As I depicted this on wood, I was reminded of my visit to see the migration on monarchs in the jungles on Mexico. It was truly a wonderful sight to see the hibernating monarchs. This artwork is a vibrant and whimsical acrylic painting with mixed media elements on a wood panel. The central focus is a profile portrait of a woman with striking red hair styled in an updo. She's wearing a red dress and has a large pink wing or petal-like shape behind her, possibly suggesting a fairy or nature spirit theme. The background is a soft blend of pastel colors - yellows, blues, and greens - creating an ethereal atmosphere. Surrounding the woman are numerous colorful butterflies in various sizes and styles, some more realistically painted and others more stylized. These butterflies add movement and a sense of magic to the composition. The painting style is a mix of realistic elements, particularly in the woman's face, and more abstract, expressive brushwork in the background and clothing. The use of texture is evident, especially in the pink wing/petal area, which appears to have a raised, textured surface. The color palette is rich and varied, with warm reds and pinks contrasting beautifully against the cooler background tones. This creates a dynamic and eye-catching piece that balances delicacy with bold expression. Overall, the artwork evokes a sense of femininity, nature, and fantasy, blending these elements into a dreamy and captivating scene.
