Gift of Charlotte and Alan Artus
Hurvin Anderson explores his Jamaican heritage and the complexity of growing up in England while wanting to reconnect with his Jamaican roots. His representation of a typical Georgian colonial plantation home found on the island is both representational and abstracted. Through the gestural marks, the home becomes somewhat of a dream or distant memory that has been triggered in the mind.
