Gift of John A. Welsh III, Class of 1959

A young, possibly pregnant woman approaches an older woman with concern that she has contracted cholera. The caption of this caricature reads "I feel a gurgling." In 1832, the year this lithograph was probably printed, there was a devastating cholera epidemic in Paris.

Published by Bauger Aubert and lithographed by de Bernard in Paris.

Lithographed by Jean-Francois Benard.
