An iconic Pop artist, Andy Warhol is best known for his silkscreen images and paintings. He is held to be one of the most influential figure in contemporary art and culture. Warhol's best-known works are his silkscreen prints of Campbell's soup cans and Marilyn Monroe.
Artist Joseph Beuys, the subject of this screenprint, was born in 1921 in Germany. He fought in World War II, and after the war he studied at the Dusseldorf Academy of Art. Beuys was involved in post-WWII groups that called for worldwide disarmament and peace. The artist became internationally well known during his lifetime and produced sculptures and drawings until his death in 1986.
