Water droppers were important accessories of a scholar or noble household. This water dropper is playful and the famille rose palette is very typical of Qing Dynasty. Interestingly, this kneeling boy holding style of water dropper was continued throughout the Qing dynasty and the Herend porcelain company in Hungary made two similar versions as figurines.
