Like many of Rauschenberg’s works, Artist’s Rights Today utilizes a combination of objects and mediums to reflect on everyday life. The work integrates normal reality through the inclusion of a sock and photographs of a barn, horses, and a cup. The title, which is scrawled onto the painting itself, hints at the social message that many of Rauschenberg’s works promote. Though not much appears to be known about this particular piece, its use of familiar items and a mix of mediums create the trademark Rauschenberg style of what his work is known for.
