Gift of John Andrew MacMahon '95
Doug Rickard studied history and sociology at the University of California-San Diego before taking up photography. He scrutinizes digital American landscapes, including satellite images, surveillance photographs, and Google Street View to find scenes of forgotten or overlooked communities or locales. Combining technology with traditional street photography, Rickard’s objective is to highlight issues impacting the United States, from poverty and inequity to privacy issues arising from new technologies.
