Artist: Will Barnet (American, 1911-2012)
American painter and printmaker. Born in Beverly, MA, Barnet studied at the School of the Museum of Fine Arts from 1927 until 1930. His work was exhibited in many notable museums and galleries including the Smithsonian National Gallery of Art, the MoMA, the Guggenheim, the Vatican Museum in Rome, and the British Museum in London. He taught at many institutions, including the Arts Students League, Cooper Union and Yale University. He was a member of the National Academy of Design, The Century Association and the American Academy of Arts and Letters, and a fellow of the Royal Society of Arts in London. Barnet also received the National Medal of Arts from President Obama in Washington DC in 2011. He lived and worked in New York until his death in 2012 at the age of 101.
