  • Artist: Tchah-Sup Kim (Korean, 1942-2022)

Tchah-Sup Kim graduated from Seoul National University (1963) and completed graduate studies in New York. He received a scholarship from the Rockefeller Foundation to attend the Pratt Institute (1967) and represented Korea at the Biennale de Paris (1966). He experimented in pop art, geometric abstraction, mail art, readymade objects, environmental art, and minimalism. His art features the search for the transcendant, critiques of Western-centrism, and questions on the universal truth that human beings have developed in our history. Kim has been featured in Korea (Leeum Samsung Museum of Art, the National Museum of Contemporary Art in Gwachon) and the US (Library of Congress, the Metropolitan Museum of Art, and the Cincinnati Art Museum).
