American artist. Received a BFA from the University of Kansas both in painting and in design and illustration. The artist works within a diverse range of media, painting, drawing, collage, and mosaic, creating works that Johnson produces for either children’s books, gallery and museums, or public art projects. Johnson defines his creative framework by three identifiers: Subject, Transformation, and Joy. Johnson's work is included in the permanent collection of the National Portrait Gallery, New Britain Museum of American Art, and the Museum of American Illustration, among others.
