Artist: Robert W. Fichter (American, b. 1939)
American photographer. Fichter was one of the initial members of the experimental photography movement. Fichter's work often combined drawing and hand photoengraving. He completed his Bachelor and Masters of Fine Arts and maintained a teaching position as an assistant and full professor in UCLA, Cranbook Academy of Art, Florida State University, while also having worked with Nathan Lyons in the Visual Studies Workshop in media arts. Fichter was also co-director of The Lillian E. Smith Center for Creative Arts alongside his wife. The vision of this center is for talented artists to flourish within a community of creative people, and to provide them with a quiet place to work.
