Artist: Peter Kloehn (American, b. 1943)
American photographer and master printmaker. Taught at various institutions while working professionally as both photographer and printmaker. Works can be separated into two visual categories of collage: Matisse-inspired pattern pieces that utilize color theory and pure aesthetics and intensely detailed altar pieces that document Afro-Brazilian culture in Brazil, Argentina, and Uruguay. He was a master Ilfochrome printer and printed professionally for other renown photographic artists in NY. Kloehn exhibited internationally in Europe and South America. His collected works can be found in Sam Wegstaff/Getty Museum, Brooklyn Museum, Davidson College, Humboldt State, and University of Brasilia (Recife).
