Artist: Misch Kohn (American, 1916-2003)
American painter and printmaker. Kohn earned his BFA at the John Herron Art Institute, Indianapolis. During a trip to Mexico, Kohn met artists Pablo O’Higgins, Alfredo Zalce and Leopoldo Mendez who were influential figures on his career. Kohn worked as a draftsman on the WPA in Chicago, but by 1945 began teaching. He was a professor at the Art Institute of Chicago, and the California State Hayward in Hayward, California. Kohn has been featured nationally and internationally, at venues including Akron Art Institute, Art Institute of Chicago, Brooklyn Museum, Fogg Art Museum, Library of Congress, Metropolitan Museum of Art, Museum of Modern Art, New York Public Library, and the Bibliothèque nationale de France and Musée National d’Art Moderne, Paris.
