Artist: Mary Fedden (British, 1915-2012)
Born in Bristol, studied at the city's Badminton School, as well as the Slade School of the Arts in London. She returned to Bristol to teach and paint until WWII broke out. She developed atyle of flower painting that is reminiscent of Matisse and Bracque. Fedden’s subjects are often executed in a bold, expressive style with vivid and contrasting colors, although her more recent work of uses a narrower tonal range. Fedden exhibited in many one-person shows throughout the UK.
