Artist: Marlene Tseng Yu (Taiwanese-American, b. 1937)
Tseng Yu received Bachelor in Fine Arts degree from the National Taiwan Normal University in Taipei in 1960, and her Master in Fine Arts degree from the University of Colorado at Boulder in 1967, where she taught for the following year after graduation. Tseng Yu is known for mural-scaled and nature-inspired abstract expressionist paintings. She synthesizes Chinese traditional ink painting techniques with Abstract Expressionism through acrylic paint. Since 1995, she has curated exhibitions for the new art movement, “Forces of Nature." Tseng Yu is the founder and curator of the Rainforest Art Foundation from 2001 to present. She exhibited extensively both nationally and internationally in Europe and Asia.
