Artist: Lynn Geesaman (American, 1938-2020)
American photographer. Geesaman received her degree in physics from Wellesley College, and while there, she discovered the medium of photography. Since, she travelled across the world capturing nature and stillness in gardens and public parks. She also received degrees from California State College, Hayward, CA; Lightworks Photographic Workshops, Minneapolis; and the University of Minnesota, Minneapolis. Her work has been displayed extensively including at the International Center of Photography, New York; Walker Art Center, Minneapolis; and the Museum of Fine Arts, Santa Fe. Her work is held in numerous collections including the Art Institute of Chicago; the Whitney Museum of American Art, New York; and the Bibliotheque Nationale de Paris. Geesaman is the recipient of the Bush Foundation Artist Fellowship (1991) and the National Endowment for the Arts Regional Visual Arts Fellowship Award for the Midwest (1993-1994).
