  • Artist: Lowell Nesbitt (American, 1933-1993)

American realist painter. Nesbitt attended the Tyler School of Art at Temple University in Philadelphia and the Royal College of Art in London. He was considered a Photo Realist, but favored a looser style of painting. Commonly painted subjects included clothing, shoes, piles of fruit and vegetables. He isest known for enormous paintings of flowers with fine detail of the paintings that often were dramatic. Today his works can be found at the MoMA, the National Gallery of Art in Washington, the Art Institute of Chicago, and the Philadelphia Museum of Art.
