  • Artist: Larry Zox (American, 1937-2006)

Larry Zox (1937–2006) was an American painter and printmaker known for his brilliantly colored paintings featuring juxtaposed geometric forms. In his early works, he utilized specific motifs for each painting, while his later works prioritized color over structure. Zox initially used collage as inspiration for his paintings but eventually abandoned collage to focus on flat color surfaces. He moved away from traditional conceptions of painting to explore new methods of cutting canvases and applying paint. His works are part of major museum collections, including the Museum of Modern Art in New York, the Guggenheim Museum in New York, the Tate Modern in London, and the Neues Museum in Bremen, Germany.
