  • Artist: Kikugawa Eizan (Japanese, 1787-1867)

Japanese printmaker. Leading artist of bijin-ga (pictures of beautiful women) and shunga (erotic prints) and considered the founder of the Kikugawa style. He studied under his father, Eiji Kikugawa, a Kano painter and fan maker, before printmaking under Hokusai’s pupil Hokkei.
