Artist: Juan Genovés (Spanish, 1930-2020)
Spanish painter. Genoves was part of the post-war Spanish art scene, studied at the Valencia Art College. He was concerned with the state of the environment, the opposition movements of the time against the Franco regime, and the interplay of the “individual” and the “crowd." His paintings were largely landscapes, with dull hues to make up “spaces of loneliness” within the crowd. His later work focused on political realism, in which he manipulated images in the media.
