Artist: John Sandlin (1929-1995)
American printmaker. Moved to Midwest in early teens and this was where his interest in art was first piqued. Served in WWII and informally studied art in Europe before attending various art schools in the U.S. before receiving his BA at Cranbrook Academy. Received his MA in Fine Arts in Printmaking at University of Southern California. He taught at Wichita State University and the Wichita Collegiate school. In Wichita he began his own studio and gallery, the Ishmael Press and received national recognition in 1969 after a traveling exhibition of his work.
