Artist: Isabel Bishop (American, 1902-1988)
American artist born in Cincinnati, Ohio. Studied illustration and painting in New York City. Bishop's work transitioned from realistic nude renderings to more urban subject matter and graphic art. She taught at the Art Students League and the Skowhegan School of Painting and Sculpture. Bishop was the first woman to hold an executive position in the National Institute of Arts and Letters when she became vice-president in 1946.
