Artist: Hugo Sbernini (Argentine, 1942-2019)
Argentinian painter. Known for detailed, fractured portraits that combine photorealism and surrealism. He studied at the “Pridiliano Pueyrredón” and “Manuel Belgrano” National School of Fine Arts. He held his first solo exhibition in 1964 at the Asociación Estímulo de Bellas Artes, in Buenos Aires. Additional solo and group exhibitions in his native country and abroad include Bordeaux, San Francisco, Lima, Madrid, and Paris, His works are found in Museo de Arte Contemporaneo, Madrid; Museo Nacional de Bellas Artes, Buenos Aires; Rally Foundation Collection, Jerusalem. He received numerous awards, including the First Prize in Painting at the LXX National Hall of Plastic Arts in Buenos Aires (1981), the First Prize at the 1st Moet Chandon Painting Biennial of the Museum of Modern Art of Buenos Aires (1987) and the Monte Carlo Grand Prize for Contemporary Art (1995).
