  • Artist: Harold Altman (American, 1924-2003)

American painter and printmaker. Altman was born in NYC and graduated from Cooper Union Art School in 1947. He was based in central Pennsylvania but spent a lot of time printing lithographs in Paris. He taught at New York State College of Ceramics at Alfred University, University of North Carolina, Greensboro, Indiana University, University of Wisconsin, Milwaukee, and Pennsylvania State University. His works have been exhibited extensively in significant collections, both in the United States and abroad. He received two Guggenheim Fellowships, a Tamarind Lithography Fellowship, a National Institute of the Arts and Letters Award, a Fulbright-Hayes Senior Research Fellowship for work in France, and a National Endowment for the Arts Grant.
