  • Artist: Hans Sebald Beham (German, 1500-1550)

German printmaker, designer of woodcuts, painter, and miniaturist. Known for his engravings and for playing a significant role in the German collective known as "The Little Masters." Hans Sebald was born into a family of artists in Nuremberg. He was later banished from Nuremberg after being accused of heresy and blasphemy and was forced to spend the rest of his career in Frankfort. Most known for his printmaking, producing 252 engravings, 18 etchings, and 1500 woodcuts. Much of his work depicted scenes of peasant life and classical myths.
