Artist: George Platt Lynes (American, 1907-1955)
American fashion photographer. Platt Lynes is best known for his grayscale work with homoerotic themes, most of which are characterized by dramatic, high-contrast lighting. In the beginning of his career, he self-taught photography then worked for several magazines such as Vogue. He eventually limited his works in commercial art and pursued personal projects later in his career which gave rise to his famous serires of male nudes. Before his death, Platt Lynes destroyed of his prints, however, he handed numerous works to the Kinsey Institute in Indiana.
