Artist: George Burk (American, b. 1938)
American painter, drawer and sculptor. Burk uses the landscape as imagery to project the common experience of viewing the world through the windshield of a car. He was born in Goshen, Indiana. The particular location of his focus is Wells, Maine. His drawings use the medium of Sumi ink and brush. Burk received his Master of Fine Arts degree from Indiana University in 1963. He currently teaches painting and drawing at the University of Southern Maine. Burk has had over 30 one-person exhibitions, including those at the Evansville Museum of Arts and Sciences, Portland Museum of Art, Barridoff Galleries, and Helen Shlien Gallery.
