Artist: Garry Winogrand (American, 1928-1984)
American photographer. Specializes in street photography of people, city streets, rodeos, airports, and animals in zoos. Known for his insightful portrayal of mid-20th century United States. New York native that received numerous grants, including three Guggenheim Fellowships and a National Endowment for the Arts Fellowship. Self-supported through freelance work as a photojournalist and advertising photographer before starting a teaching career as a photographer.
